How this breakfast is made · 1 of 4

Why we ship it dry

A ready-made protein drink has to survive months in a bottle as a liquid. That requirement shapes everything else in it. We took the other route: send the breakfast dry, in the bottle you will shake it in, and let you add the liquid yourself.

What a liquid has to solve

A protein shake sold ready to drink is water, protein and flavour sitting together on a shelf for months. Two things happen in that bottle over time. Microbiologically it has to stay safe. Physically it has to stay mixed — protein and water separate, and a drink that arrives with a layer at the bottom reads as spoiled even when it is not.

Both problems are solved with formulation: preservation systems, stabilisers, emulsifiers, sometimes gums and phosphates. This is not a scandal. It is what the format requires. A liquid product that skipped it would not be safe to sell.

What dry does not have to solve

A dry mix has no water in it, so neither problem exists. Nothing is growing and nothing is separating, because there is nothing to grow in and nothing to separate from. The shelf life comes from the absence of moisture, not from anything we add to hold it in place.

That is the whole reason our ingredient list is short. It is not restraint for its own sake — the format simply does not create the problems that lengthen other lists.

One thing is worth naming. Our whey protein is an instantised grade: the dairy that makes it adds a small amount of sunflower lecithin so the powder wets out on its own. It is part of the protein and it is declared on our label. Beyond that we add no emulsifier, no stabiliser and no thickener.

You decide what goes in it

Every ready-made drink has already made your decisions for you: how many calories, how much fat, what kind of milk. Those were set in a factory months before you opened it.

Ours arrives undecided. Water keeps it light. Whole milk makes it a bigger breakfast. Oat or soy shifts it again. The 15g of protein in the bottle stays the same either way — everything around it moves with what you are doing that day.

Open the bottle, add 200 ml of cold milk or water, close it and shake for thirty seconds. One bottle is one serving, and the bottle is the bowl.

Thirty seconds, one bottle, and the version of breakfast you actually wanted.

What we don't claim

We are not saying a ready-made shake is unsafe. It is not, and the systems that keep it stable are ordinary food science.

We are not claiming our format is healthier. It is a different set of trade-offs: you carry a bottle and add liquid; they hand you a drink and you carry nothing.

We are saying which trade-off we chose, and why — so you can decide whether it is yours.
